The verb avere (‘to have’), like essere (‘to be’), is an irregular verb that must be memorized. Below are indicated the forms of avere:
Like the English equivalent “to have” the Italian avere can indicate:
- possession: Ho una bella casa (‘I have a beautiful house’), Lei ha grande fascino (‘She has great charm’);
- relationship: Ho due fratelli (‘I have two brothers’), Abbiamo due amici (‘We have two friends’).
Complete each sentence with the correct form of the verb avere.
