Passato Prossimo and modal verbs
As you know dovere, potere, volere are usually followed by an infinitive verb (without preposition). When used in the passato prossimo, they can take both the auxiliary essere or avere, depending on the auxiliary demanded by the infinitive verb. They take the auxiliary avere (‘to have’) if the infinitive verb that follows itself requires avere. On the contrary, they take the auxiliary essere (‘to be’) if the infinitive verb that follows itself requires essere (‘to be’).
Note the difference:
lavorare and suonare require the auxiliary avere; venire and the reflexive alzarsi require instead the auxiliary essere.
If a modal verb is not followed by an infinitive, it must always take the auxiliary avere.

Ciao Monica,
come stai? Io sto benissimo. La città è grande, moderna e elegantissima. Qui a Milano ho conosciuto altri studenti di italiano. Alcuni parlano già molto bene, altri, come me, un po’ meno. Ieri sera siamo usciti tutti insieme.
