Food is culture: The Success of ‘Made in Italy’

From the frugality of the Etruscans’ table to today’s slow food movement, food and culinary have played a fundamental role in the development of Italian culture. The course examines food from historical, political, economic, and culinary perspectives, exploring how and why the “Made in Italy” is greatly appreciated abroad. The course analyzes works of literature, art, film, magazines, and cookbooks dealing with food and the development of what is an expressly Italian food culture.
