Listen, watch, read, and answer the questions. Do not worry if sometimes you understand just a little bit; it is absolutely normal. It is well known that authentic materials provide real language presentation, real-life situations, authentic cultural information and, of course, they motivate learners. Have fun!

| Noi (Jordan Peele) Italians love American movies, but in Italy films and TV series are not broadcasted in English (or other original languages) but are dubbed into Italian. For most of Italian people, reading subtitles is just a lot of work and takes your eyes off the action on the screen. A fairly small cadre of voice actors (“doppiatori”) do all the voices, and are held in very high esteem in Italy. Unfortunately, there is a price to pay for it: Italy lags far behind most European countries in society-wide acquisition of English. | Dare del “tu” o del “lei” The use of the informal ” tu” is taking more and more ground and not only among young people. Many persons tend to make their relationships more intimate with a confidential attitude that suggests the use of “tu” instead of the formal “Lei.” Today people use “tu” among colleagues who carry out the same profession as it has always been, but also to unknown adults who are often 40 years old or more. Are usually these people who ask for it, as if the “tu” form could rejuvenate them. The English language and American culture have influenced this change in interpersonal communication.  |

Luciano Ligabue, known as Liga, is on one of Italy’s most talented Italian rock stars. Native of Emilia Romagna region, he started working as a radio DJ before releasing his first record in 1990, at the age of 30. He soon became very popular in Italy, thanks to the intense lyrics and blues-rock sound, inspired to the American classics. He is also a talented and successful filmmaker and writer2His debut movie Radiofreccia (1998) was screened at the Venice Film Festival and won the Nastro D’Argento and Davide di Donatello for his screenplay and direction; while his novel Fuori e Dentro il Borgo (1997) was awarded the Elsa Morante prize.. Liga recently performed in New York, Miami, San Francisco and Los Angeles. |
