U19 Reading passages, songs, video clips, etc.

This section contained authentic Italian materials 1“Authentic materials” are reading texts, videos, TV programs, songs, and any other sources of language created by native speakers and published in contexts designed specifically for native-speaker consumption, with no thought given to non-native accessibility.. Listen, watch, read, and answer the questions. Do not worry if sometimes you understand just a little bit; it is absolutely normal. It is well known that authentic materials provide real language presentations, real-life situations, authentic cultural information and, of course, they motivate learners. Have fun!

Note: Closed Captions on YouTube allow you to obtain a transcript and subtitle translation for all videos. Some texts (not all of them) are translated into English. Click the images for it.

Gli italiani visitano poco il loro Paese.
Everybody knows that Italy is a must-visit country and it is one of the most-traveled destinations in the world. Yet, many Italians know little about their Country and chose international destinations for their holidays rather than exploring the beauty and treasures of Italy. For this reason, a few years ago, the Italian Ministry of Tourism created a TV Ad to remind Italians (but not only Italians2The Ad was in fact originally created with English subtitles.) how much it is worth to visit Italy.
Settimana Enigmistica
La Settimana Enigmistica is a weekly Italian puzzle magazine, published since 1932. It has long been one of Italy’s top-selling magazines. Even if many of the puzzles featured in it are crosswords, la Settimana also offers rebuses, anagrams and cryptograms, riddles, cartoon, and written jokes, and it challenges reader’s knowledge of history, mythology, music, opera, literature, art, science, geography, sports, and cinema. It was, and it still is, considered a “Cultural Institution” by many Italians who not only did have fun with it, but they formed their education on it before the Internet.
Attenzione turisti!
Most regular visitors to Italy obviously realize that stealing pieces of the Colosseum or peeing on some famous monuments is a no-no. Still, they could fall foul of some rules, which were either enforced recently in response to issues with over-tourism, or brought in many years ago and never abolished. So better to avoid any trouble on your next trip and keep in mind just a few prohibitions.  For a complete list, you can explore the in Italia  site.
